Cookies and data storage

Updated 12 September 2026

The website remembers things such as your sign-in, language and settings in your browser. Visit statistics are optional. We only turn them on with your consent.

We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

What do the website and game need to work?

We save some information automatically so you can use the features you choose. This helps us:

We do not use this information for advertising or visit statistics. We use it even if you decline statistics.

What happens if I allow statistics?

After you choose “Accept all”, your browser starts sending information about your visit: which pages you view, where you came from, which features you use and how quickly pages load. This helps us understand what is useful and what needs improving.

We use a randomly generated identifier stored in your browser to tell visits apart. We also remember the source of your first visit, such as a link from a particular campaign.

If you choose “Decline” or have not made a choice yet, these statistics stay off. Declining does not prevent you from browsing the website or using a game account.

For details about information sent to the server, who receives it and how long it is kept, see our Privacy Policy.

How do I change my choice?

Go to the bottom of the main page and choose “Change cookie consent”. The banner will appear again so you can allow or decline statistics.

Withdrawing consent stops further statistics collection and removes the statistics identifiers and saved visit source from this browser. It does not automatically delete information already sent to the server. Our Privacy Policy explains how long that information is kept and how to request its deletion.

How long does my browser remember this?

Settings and your consent choice have no automatic expiry. They stay until the website changes them or you delete this website’s data in your browser settings. We remove the sign-in credential when you sign out; the sign-in itself may expire earlier for security reasons.

The current visit identifier belongs to the open tab and is normally removed when you close it. Other statistics data in your browser stays until you withdraw consent or delete the website’s data.

You can also delete data directly in your browser settings. This may sign you out and remove your settings and consent choice. Deleting browser data does not, by itself, delete your game account.

Technical details, if you are interested

We mainly use browser storage called localStorage and sessionStorage rather than traditional cookies. The main entries are listed below.

Sign-in and game interface
scifi-token stores the sign-in credential. scifi-auth and scifi-page store sign-in state and the last screen. Other entries hold language, settings and local copies of game data.
Your consent choice
scifi-analytics-consent remembers whether you allowed statistics.
Statistics — only after consent
scifi-analytics-visitor distinguishes visitors. scifi-analytics-attribution remembers the first visit source, campaign tags and entry page. Both use localStorage.
scifi-analytics-session identifies the current visit in sessionStorage.
